Become a CREO volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of CREO DuPage. Whether you’re passionate about mentoring students, organizing events, or supporting behind the scenes, we have a place for you.

Why Volunteer at CREO?

Individual Relationships

Sometimes, the best service, the best love you show to others, is to show up. Volunteering with CREO allows you to develop a relationship with young, motivated students to be a consistent source of encouragement and support. The awareness, empathy, and relationship building skills that you gain will help you show up better for all those around you.

Community Impact

At CREO, we make a difference by showing up for our neighbors. We build long-term relationships with students and journey with them each week to say: WE CARE. YOU MATTER. We offer opportunities to collaborate with local organizations to create a difference in our own community—to connect with students and families to build bridges towards higher education.

Service Opportunity

Looking for a way to get involved, but not sure where to start or what would be a good fit for you? No problem. Let’s work together to see what it could look like for you to partner with CREO.

All it takes is starting somewhere.

“CREO is more holistic than just tutoring; throughout the four years of developing a relationship with my student, I saw her explore her identity, values, and worldview. She is now making connections between who she is and how that informs the way she lives. More than anything, she has helped me grow as a person and has taught me so much.”

“CREO’s structure and consistency allows us to build trust. We know more about them than a teacher might because we spend time listening, getting to know more about them, they see that happen and really open up to us. The other thing that really separates CREO is the family commitment that CREO requires. I think it is awesome how everyone is learning and a part of the process.”

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Mentors will share their experiences while being a sounding board to the 12th grade students as they navigate their classes and work through the college-admission process. Mentor and student will set up their own meeting times to discuss monthly goals, work through CREO’s pre-college curriculum, and hold each other accountable for attending and completing work.

    Time Requirement: 3-4 Hours/Month, Flexible - Virtual

  • Guides will create a community and facilitate conversations with small groups of students during our monthly virtual "Saturday Morning Live" workshops. Interview & Learn More

Once we receive your volunteer application, the volunteer coordinator will reach out and set up an interview with you–this is an opportunity for us to share about CREO, as well as get to know you! We want to know your story, learn more about your passions, and help place you in a role that fits your skillset and desires.

Onboarding & Placement

After completing the interview, you will go through an onboarding process which involves completing a background check and online training modules. We will then set you up with your volunteer materials, schedule a training session, and match you with a student!
